HeyLager officially opened its first facility in January 2025, after a rapid construction phase of a little over 6 months to get the site ready. Located near Frankfurt, this first location boasts 3,000 sqm of lettable space with both drive-up and indoor units.
The next site is already in the works, scheduled to launch in the summer, with further expansion plans to increase their portfolio across the next 5 years.
How Kinnovis has helped your business?
My background for over 30 years is in digital, so my DNA is with online advertising and eCommerce. This means that I have really high expectations when it comes to the user experience and customer processes. I want to provide our customers with an excellent ‘e-rental journey’ where they can book everything online, but I know from experience that this doesn’t always mean that it saves time for the customer or for the team. This is why it’s important to also have the storage contract automated and all the steps that Kinnovis offers from the online Booking Portal.
We’ve only just launched, but every booking we’ve received so far has been from the website. The only calls we receive are for general enquiries.
For me, when weighing up Kinnovis:
User experience = ✅
Good processes = ✅
Less work for us = ✅
Is there one feature that has had the most impact for you?
While we know there is analytics and reporting directly within the Kinnovis Manager, we also wanted to track some advanced metrics. That’s why we were happy to see the announcement of the Public API, which has allowed us to run our custom reports on tools like Looker Studio.
We knew that we couldn’t expect a full-blown analytics tool, because everyone has different expectations and priorities for what should and shouldn’t be tracked, but a full-blown API gives us the flexibility to create what we need.

Was there enough support available for you and your team?
Your product team did an excellent job, so our onboarding was simple and everything is good so far!
With a software as packed as Kinnovis’ is, it could be easy to create too many things for operators to do but the setup is great. Having used other self-storage management software in the past, they can be very rich tools but then the usability is lousy.
Who do you think would benefit the most from using Kinnovis?
As an early adopter of Kinnovis for drive-up units, we see the potential the software has for other operators like us. The API makes a big difference – being able to help ourselves to this data is important to us and should be for other operators!
